Here’s a great way to use leftovers in a fresh way: we used our grapefruit-cardamom curd as the base of a glaze to reimagine the last of our roasted chicken. Christian removed the skin from the breast and crisped it up in a hot sauté pan before baking the glazed chicken separately. Served on a bed of gorgeous nutty-and-sweet Forbidden rice, punched up with Sriracha, these were leftovers in tuxedos!
For anyone out there who thinks of chocolate vodka as a sickly-sweet syrupy mess of poorly-made martinis… get your hands on some Grand Traverse Distillery True North Chocolate Vodka. Do it now. Subtle sweetness, a twist of orange… so good I probably will not put it in another cocktail, rather just enjoying it asa martini-style drink on the rocks. As the website says,
This is no ordinary wheat vodka. The masterpiece you are about to taste has been naturally infused with organic cocoa leaving this vodka dripping with authentic coca character. On top of that, we have also infused fresh navel oranges into this luscious beverage, imparting a natural sweetness and deeply satisfying citrus twist that will leave a smile on your face… that is until your glass is empty!
If you haven’t looked into Michigan’s microbrews and distilleries lately, you might want to consider that too. Serious business up there in da Mitten, eh? But seriously folks… this cocktail was pleasantly spicy but sweet enough to offset the heat of the Sriracha. All in all, a meal to make you believe in the whole “your body is your temple” mantra!
